At AR Construction, we are a registered building practitioner who specialise in residential and commercial construction across Warrnambool and South West Victoria. With over 12 years of hands-on experience and a team with more than 24 years of combined expertise, we deliver projects that are practical, durable, and tailored to the way you live or operate your business.

From a young age, I always knew I wanted to become a builder. At 16, I started a school-based apprenticeship with a local commercial builder, working two days a week and through school holidays for two years. After graduating, I was offered a full-time position.
During that time, we worked on a wide range of projects — from large school buildings, basketball stadiums, and commercial office buildings to ambulance stations, fire stations, and even milk factories, where we constructed large cool rooms and stockline systems using refrigeration panels. I also gained experience with smaller-scale projects, including business fit-outs and accessible toilet amenities. Over time, I progressed from an apprentice to running major commercial jobs.
After several years in commercial construction, I made the switch to domestic building to broaden my experience. I worked on new homes, extensions, and renovations. The builder I worked for took a hands-on approach — we did nearly everything ourselves, from setting up and pouring slabs to constructing the building, hanging plaster, installing flooring, waterproofing and tiling bathrooms, right through to landscaping, footpaths, and fencing. 

This gave me a deep, well-rounded understanding of all aspects of building.

Eventually, I had the opportunity to build my own home — a project I completed while working full-time. I spent every night after work and every weekend for 12 months until it was finished. Near the end of that build, I began to think seriously about starting my own business — something built around my passion for helping people turn their houses into homes they love.
I’ve always believed a home should be functional, practical, and enjoyable — a space people are proud to share. That idea became the foundation for my business. After finishing my home, I handed in my notice and 5 weeks after i started AR Carpentry — and since then, I’ve loved doing exactly what I set out to do.
